Abstract

565,849. Hair waving. HEXT, H. April 27, 1943, No. 6634. [Class 131] In hair waving, a curler rod 1 of the shape shown is provided at one end with a rotatable plug 3 having a squared end adapted to be held by the hair tress clamp and at the other end with a winged piece for turning the rod which is also provided with a pivoted arm 5 between which and the curler rod the end of the tress may be engaged before winding the hair tress on the curler rod 1. A clamp adapted to rest on the scalp and engage the root of the tress comprises arms 12 adapted to be covered with insulating material 13 and pivoted at one end to a base member 10 provided with an upstanding lug 8 having a slot 9 to take one end of the curler rod. At the other end a member 14, having an upstanding lug 15 adapted to form a bearing for the rotatable plug 3 of the curler rod, is pivoted to one of the arms 12 and carries a lever 18, 19 adapted to engage and lock the arms -of the clamp in parallel relationship. The tress wound on the curler rod may be surrounded by a heating sachet or the like.
