Abstract
590,058. Lamp-holders. SAVARY, A. April 11, 1945, No. 8988. Convention date. April 19, 1944. [Class 38 (i)] An electric lamp socket comprises a moulded insulating or metal casing divided longitudinally into two parts held together by a screw 3 and a ring 4, and having internal projections defining a rectangular chamber in which is housed an insulating member 10 slidable under the influence of a spring 20 within limits afforded by projections 15 on the said member engaging slots 16 in a recess 9a in one of the internal projections 9. Member 10 also has laterally projecting arm 13 round which the bared ends of leads 11, 12 are looped and secured so as to bear directly on the contact studs 19 of a lamp cap 17 inserted in bayonet slots 18 in the casing. The neck of the casing is formed with a polygonal shoulder 5 engaging a correspondingly shaped flange 6 on an internally-threaded mounting ring 7. Alternatively the ring may be replaced by jaws on the casing adapted to grip the leads 11, 12. Furthermore, member 10 may be formed in two parts, the lateral portion rocking with respect to the other portion about a pin. The casing may be strengthened by a metal sheathing.
