Abstract

568,699. Two-part couplings. ELECTROCRAFT, Ltd., and ROSENBERG, W. D. June 1,1943, No. 8768. [Class 38 (i)] A socket connector for an iron &c. has the usual moulded body 1 formed in two parts between which connection is made between the supply leads and the socket contacts 5 which project beyond the moulded body and are enclosed in a porcelain extension 8 secured to the body by a longitudinally arranged screw 11 passing through a hole 10 and taking into a bridge-piece 13 located in openings 12 in the body. The socket is made from a metal stamping bent to form a split cylinder 15 with projecting edges 16 and a terminal tag 18 by which the socket is secured, the terminal screw entering recesses in the body parts. Around the cylinder 15 are assembled a split steel casing 19 and a spring member 20 with clips 23 at each end and a slot 21 to receive the edges 16. A metal casing 14 may surround the extension 8.
