Abstract
620,476. Lamp caps and holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Feb. 12, 1945, No. 3518. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1944. [Class 38 (i)] A lamp-holder for a double-ended lamp 1 having oval contacts as in Specification 577,145, comprises a flanged porcelain housing 5 having contacts 22, 25, 28 in a passage 6 terminating at a slot 11, which guides an oval lamp-contact 2 between the contacts 25. The contacts 22 are riveted to a plate 17 on an insulator 16 secured to the body by a rivet 19 which is threaded for a terminal screw 20. The contacts 25, 28 are insulated from the plate and depend from the other side of the insulator. A hook 37 pivotally attached to the flange 32 supports a lamp-end before it is inserted in the holder, and a shaped guide 30 fits the lamp body to prevent incorrect insertion which may cause the lamp to become alive accidentally. After the lamp is inserted in the holder, it is rotated 90 degrees so that the contact 2 causes the contacts 28 to touch the contacts 22.
