Abstract

554,777. Valves. PARKER, A. LA R. May 21, 1942, No. 6891. [Class 135] A multiple-way valve device particularly adapted for use in connection with fuel supply tanks on aircraft comprises a pair of interconnected gravity actuated valves adapted to control the connections between a common outlet pipe and two spaced tank outlet pipes and is arranged, so that when the entrance to one pipe is raised above the other, the passage through the raised pipe is interrupted. In the form shown in the Figures the common outlet pipe 13 is connected through the valve device 2 and pipe 3 to an electrically-operated booster pump 12 and through a pipe 7, a non-return valve 11, and pipe 9 with the end of the tank remote from the pump. The valve device comprises a pair of loose valves 18, 18a adapted to co-operate with seats 17, 17a arranged on opposite sides of the outlet branch 14. The valves are guided by cages 19, 19a and are spaced apart by a rod 25 slidably mounted in a lug 24 so that only one valve can seat at a time. The lug 24 also serves as a baffle to prevent liquid escaping through one valve impinging on and opening the other valve.
