Abstract
405,412. Road scarifiers. PRICE, F. C., Silverburn, Albert Square, Bowdon, Cheshire. Oct. 24, 1932, No. 29630. [Class 107.] The tool holder d of a road scarifier, of the type attached to a road roller or locomotive, is suspended from a spring box c by means of steel pins or bolts e which are secured to a front plate d<2> and lugs d<1> on the tool holder and pass through elongated slots c<2> in the box c. The tool holder is guided in lateral channels of an outer frame a and is resiliently supported therein upon springs g<1> surrounding a pair of suspension bolts g. Vertical movement of the tool holder is effected by the spring-box structure, the spring c<4> of which bears against a platform thereof. The adjusting mechanism comprises a handwheel a<3> mounted on a shaft carrying a worm a<2> which meshes with a worm wheel b keyed to a shaft b<1>. The latter carries also a spur wheel b<2> which gears with a rock bar c<1> formed integrally with the spring box c. The tine f carried by the tool holder can thus be raised or lowered by manipulating the handwheel, and the limits of movement thereof are dependent on the lengths of the slots c<2>.
