[Class 108 (i).] In hand-trucks the upper lifting plafform or frame is raised and lowered by means of worm and worm segment gearing. As shown, the upper frame e is carried by links f and worm segments g with which mesh worms w on inclined shafts s. These shafts are driven through bevel gearing m, q, r from a hand-wheel mounted on a vertical frame h to which the draught handle x of the truck is pivoted at y. In a modification the worm shaft may be arranged vertically and the upper frame carried by front and rear links to which, at an angle, may be secured cranks coupled together by a rod.
