Abstract
357,251. Road vehicle suspensions. THORNYCROFT & CO., Ltd., J. I., Smith Square, London, and BARFORD, V. G., Motor Vehicle & Engine Works, Basing- stoke, Hampshire. June 21, 1930, No. 18992. [Class 108 (ii).] In s i x-wheeled motor vehicles with two rear driving axles the equalizing springs connecting the two axles are relieved of lateral stresses by the provision of vertical guiding means at each end of each axle. A roller 6 projecting in front of or behind the axle casing 2 bears against a vertical guide 3 secured at its upper end to the vehicle frame. The guide 3 may be rigid or slightly elastic and it is curved so that either end of the axle may move vertically independently of the other end when subjected to road shocks. Abutments 3b and 7 limit vertical and angular movements of the axle casing. Specification 259,322, [Class 108 (ii), Road vehicles, Undercarriage details &c. for], is referred to.
