Abstract
312,784. Henderson, G., and Henderson, W. M. May 10, 1928. Mole - drain ploughs; tools; draught devices.- In a mole plough comprising a sled and a coulter carrying a mole, substantially the whole lower surface of the sled bears on the ground except at the junction with the coulter where the sled is arched upwardly to form a bridge defining a gap into which stones, weeds, &c. may pass without interference with the sled, so as to be removable without affecting its level. The sled consists of two spaced angle irons arched upwardly to form the bridge 4. The coulter 7 is vertically adjustable in a guideway 6 between the angle irons 1 by means of a pinion 10 engaging a rock 9 and operated by means of a lever 13 and right- and left-hand ratchet-mechanism. It is locked in position by a pin passing through holes 14, 15. The mole. consists of a cylindrical member 8 having a tapered and inclined' point and carrying a detachable circular rear member 8<2> which determines the diameter of the drain and closes the base of the slot formed by the coulter 7. The coulter bears against a depending plate 17 and passes between plates 18 attached to the plate 17. The plates 18 may be deflected slightly laterally by means of brackets 19 and screwed rods 20, so to bring the coulter into alignment with a cutting-disc 23 journaled between the angle irons 1. A draught shackle 27 is adjustablv connected to a front bracket 24<1>, and a handle 29 is provided at the rear. The front end of the sled is linked to a frame 31 mounted on wheels and provided with a winding-drum 34 and rope 35 for raising the rear end of the sled. According to one of the Provisional Specifications a fin is provided at the rear end of the mole and the coulter may be rocked by means of a tierod, threaded members, and a turnbuckle.
