L. ; 4016, Morse Street, Lawrence Park, Erie, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) March 8, 1932, No. 6948. Convention date, March 9, 1931. [Class 64 (ii).] A heat insulator comprises a cellular structure with several layers of air cells limited in cross section to prevent convection currents, the walls of the cells in the direction of heat transfer being of thin paper of thickness less than 0À004 inches and the cells being not more than 0À18 inches in the direction of heat transfer and in one direction perpendicular thereto. Sheets 2 of corrugated paper, preferably spaced by flat sheets 4, are arranged with corrugations staggered to prevent nesting or arranged transversely, sulphate paper of 0.0025 inches thickness being used with sheets 4 spaced 0.14 inches apart. Each block is enclosed either loosely or glued, e.g. with sodium silicate, in a carton 5, which may be hermetically sealed and waterproofed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12212/00, [Class 64, Heating], and 316,202, [Class 64 (ii), Heating systems &c.].
