359,246. Nonconducting coverings for heat. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.-(Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag; 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm.) Nov. 13, 1930, No. 34175. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1929. Grant of Patent opposed. [Class 64 (ii).] In the heat insulation of refrigerators and the like by means of spaced layers of metal foil, the surfaces of the foil are protected, preferably on both sides, by a diathermal layer of another material. The protecting layer may be formed by electrolytic or anodic treatment, which is particularly suitable for treating aluminium foil. In a modification, the protecting layer may be a varnish. In the insulation of a refrigerating cabinet, the treated aluminium sheets may be pasted on wooden frames which are mounted preferably about 10 mm. apart. Transverse means may be provided to prevent circulation of air. Very thin metal foil may be pasted on both sides of a layer of paper, pasteboard, or metal to obtain the necessary rigidity.
