Abstract

551,250. Composite paper-board. MUNTERS, C. G. Aug. 8, 1941, No. 10084. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts Dec. 23, 1941.] [Class 96] Composite paper-board comprises a corrugated ply 11, faced on one or both sides with a plain sheet 10 or 12 at least one plain sheet being surfaced with bitumen &c. 14 and having a facing ply of crepe paper 13 which weighed 30 to 80 gms. per sq. metre prior to being creped. Creping may increase the weight 30 to 60 per cent. The softening point of the bitumen may be 70 to 125‹C. Water glass may be applied to the crests of the corrugations to adhere the plain ply 12 thereto, and the composite paper-board dried between a travelling band and heated plates and then cooled. The ply 12 may be porous and made from wood refuse or waste paper.
