550,561. Multiple-ply corrugated paper; heat insulations ; coating webs. MUNTERS' INDUSTRI AKTIEBOLAG. June 6, 1941, No. 7177. Convention date, April 8, 1940. [Classes 96 and 140] [Also in Group XIII] Multiple-ply paper for thermal insulation comprises alternate plain and corrugated plies 12, 11 united initially with an adhesive, drying under heat and preferably watersoluble, e.g. water glass, applied at spaced points to the crests of the corrugations, the assembly being then impregnated with asphalt, mixed with oil, or petrol &c., to make the material waterproof and to protect the water glass from moisture. The asphalt &c. may be applied by dipping, and excess drained off, e.g. in heated air, or while heated air is blown through it, with the corrugations, which are substantially parallel in the different plies, substantially vertical. The asphalt &c. may include substances giving protection against moulds or bacteria. The water glass may be applied with the aid of a grooved roller or a slotted doctor, the spacing apart of the grooves or slots corresponding to that of the spots of water glass on crests of the corrugations.
