Abstract
258,758. Stevens, T. J. Dec. 14, 1925. Push-bars.-Relates to perambulators, pushchairs and like vehicles in which the handle is pivoted to the vehicle so that it may be turned out of the way when not in use, and comprises a bracket or seating mounted on the vehicle body and carrying a catch which may be moved to lie across arms or extensions on the bracket so as to retain the handle in its operative position between the arms of the bracket. As shown, the stems 2 of the handle 1 are pivoted to atachments 6 on the body 5 and each stem, in the operative position of the handle, engages between arms 7, 8 of a bracket 9 secured to the body 5. The arm 8 is flanged outwardly to carry a pivoted catch 15 having a part 16 adapted to engage a slot 13 in the arm 7. The pivoted catch may be replaced by a sliding catch and the bracket 9 and attachment 6 may be carried by a single plate secured to the body. The stems 2 may be pivoted to the sides of the body, in which case the brackets 9 are mounted on the sides of the body, the stems 2 being outwardly cranked, if necessary, to clean the hood.
