Abstract
344,955. Jacking attachments for motor vehicles. GRAHAM, J. E., Chalet, Gipsy Lane, Putney, London. May 30, 1930, No. 23357. [Class 79 (iii).] In pivoted jacking attachments for motor vehicles, a leg or member 24 is mounted on a pin 25 at the lower end of a pendant bracket 23 carried by an axle or associated part such as the fixed member 22 of a brake drum, the abutting faces of the leg and bracket being formed with bevelled radial teeth 28, 29, Fig. 5, kept in engagement by a spring 27 located as shown or on the other side of the bracket. The leg may be rocked by means of a lever arm permanently secured thereto, but detachable and reversible operating means are shown in Figs. 8 and 10. In such forms, teeth or notches 32 provided around the pivotal boss of the leg member are adapted to be engaged by teeth 35 formed around the apertured end 34 of a separate lever 33, Fig. 8, providing for various positions of engagement, or a ratchet-like operation of the leg member in either direction may be effected by means of a lever with oppositely directed bevelled teeth 38, Fig. 10. Rollers &c. 31 and limiting stops 36, 37, Fig. 4, may be provided.
