Abstract

259,054. Standard Motor Co., Ltd., and Maudslay, R. W. Nov. 6, 1925. Vehicle lamps, directing.-In means for tilting motor-vehicle lamps of the kind having a depending stem, or stems, by which they are secured normally to the vehicle, the stem, or stems, is, or are, secured to a lug adapted to be clipped to a tube, extending transversely across the vehicle and mounted rotatably on a fixed rod or tube carried by the frame or connecting the front mudguards. In one form, the stem 3 of each headlamp 2 is secured by a nut 4 to a split lug 5 clipped by a bolt 9 on a tube 8 mounted rotatably on a steady tube, or rod, 10 secured at the ends in bosses 13 on the front mudguards 11, springs 14 being provided between the ends of the tube 8 and the bosses 13 to prevent rattle. An operating arm 15 is preferably integral with one of the bolts 9. A projection or set-screw on the lug 5 may be adapted to engage a fixed part when the lamps are in the normal position.
