Abstract

1,223,919. Rear-view mirrors. WINGARD Ltd. 31 Oct., 1969 [10 Dec., 1968], No. 58620/68. Heading B7J. [Also in Division E2] An external fear-view mirror assembly comprises a tubular frame 10 carrying a mirror reflector 14, which frame is adapted to be mounted so as to pivot about a substantially vertical axis on a side of a vehicle by means of brackets 11 connected to the frame 10 by bolts 12 working in nylon bushes 13, and a three-part folding stay consisting of a first link 16 pivotally connected at one end to an outer part of the frame 10 and at the other end to one end of a second link 18 which is pivotally connected at its other end to one end of a third link 19, the other end of the link 19 being pivotally connected at 21 to the side of the vehicle some distance from the pivotal axis of the frame 10 so that said frame can be swung forwardly or rearwardly from an operative position in which it projects approximately at right angles to the side of the vehicle to a position substantially parallel to the side of the vehicle. One end of the link 18 has a portion 22 cranked over towards the link 16 and one end of the link 19 has a portion 23 cranked over towards the link 16. A retaining clip secures the links 16, 18 and 19 in the operative position shown in Fig. 1, said retaining clip having a split nylon spool 26 riveted to the link 16 and engageable in a slot 25 in a plate 24 which is welded to the link 19.
