Abstract

1327383 Rear view mirrors DESMO Ltd 25 Aug 1970 [10 Oct 1969] 49874/69 Heading B7J In a vehicle rear view mirror, two mirror elements 16 are each mounted on an elongate carrier member 15 by means of a ball joint connection 17, the carrier member itself being mounted by means of a clamp 20 on an arm (not shown), the carrier member being hinged about the longitudinal axis of the arm when the clamp is slackened; the arm is adapted to be fixed to the vehicle. The carrier member is also pivotable about an axis normal to the longitudinal axis of the arm, by means of arcuate slots 25 in the clamp plates 21 through which the clamping bolts 23 protrude; slackening of the bolts allows pivotal movement of the carrier member. A similar mirror is described (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) in which the clamp is integral with the carrier member, and also an embodiment (Fig. 6, 7, not shown) in which the arm (33) is connected to the carrier member by a ball joint, and which the two mirror elements are hingedly jointed together and to the carrier member.
