Abstract
1,252,321. Subterranean walls. HELD & FRANCKE BAU A.G. 25 March, 1969 [11 March, 1968], No. 15522/69. Heading E1H. An elongate member to facilitate the formation of water-tight joints between mutually abutting vertical edges of sections of a castin-situ concrete diaphragm-wall comprises a steel tube 1 and a co-axial rubber tube 2 clamped at its ends by rings 4, 7. Each section is cast in a trench while the member is lodged at one end of the latter so as to form a vertical recess in one lateral edge of the section. Until the concrete is set the tube is pressurized by a fluid, e.g. air or water, through a pipe line 3. Whereafter the fluid is evacuated and the elongate member is withdrawn with the air of a member 4a on the ring 4. The recess is filled with concrete when the adjacent section is cast. The tube 1 may be replaced by a rubber tube 11. To guide the elongate member a relatively short tube 5 may surround the tube 2 and engage with a tube 10 extending into the upper part of the trench.
