Abstract

1,195,995. Wells &c. ROCKWELL MFG. CO. 11 Sept., 1967 [20 Sept., 1966], No. 41420/67. Heading E1F. Mandrel 14 is supported in wellhead 12 by segments 20 engaging preformed grooves 21 in the wellhead. Springs 22 urge the segments to engage the grooves as soon as they are aligned, whereafter the mandrel is lowered further until faces 20a, 20c on the segments engage faces 17, 16, respectively, on the mandrel. Hold down latches 23 lock the parts in this position. To withdraw the mandrel, a ring is lowered to strike rods 26 which retract the latches. A seal may be provided between the upper end of mandrel 14 and the wellhead.
