Abstract
1333472 Anchoring pipelines buried below water SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 1 -Feb 1971 3596/71 Heading E1H [Also in Division F2] A buried pipeline 1 is anchored in the bottom 2 below a body of water by a concrete block 8 which is sunk in the bottom to a position just above the pipeline. The sinking is effected by fluidisation of the material of the bottom 2 by water jets supplied through steel pipes 9, 10 and apertures 12. The block is anchored by one or more steel or concrete piles 4 either previously sunk by fluidisation or jetting, and/or screwing into the material of the bottom, or sunk together with the block by fluidisation and screwing (Figs. 5 to 7 not shown). The block may be formed in two parts.
