a. Write the equilibrium constant expression for the following reaction:

b. Value of Kc at 500 K for A + 2B ⇌ C is 10.6
Determine the value of Kc at the same temperature for C ⇌ A + 2B
c. Write the relation between Kp and Kc for the given reaction.

2. What is Kc for the following equilibrium when the equilibrium concentration of each
substance is: [SO2] = 0.60M, [O2] = 0.82 M and [SO3] = 1.90 M?

the value of Kc for the dissociation of PCl5 into PCl3 and Cl2 at 400 K.
7.(a) Kc for SO2(g) + 1/2 O2(g) ⇌ SO3(g) at 600ºC is 61.7. Calculate Kp.
(b) For reaction,2A + B ⇌2C, K = x.
Calculate equilibrium constant for 2C ⇌ A + 1/2B.

The initial pressure of COCl2 is 1000 torr. The total pressure of the system becomes 1500 torr,
when the equilibrium COCl2(g) ⇌ CO(g)+Cl2(g) is attained at constant temperature. Calculate
the value of Kp of the reaction.
8. At 473 K, equilibrium constant Kc for decomposition of phosphorus pentachloride, PCl5 is
8.3 × 10-3. If decomposition is depicted as,PCl5(g) ⇌ PCl3(g) + Cl2(g); rHƟ = 124.0 kJ/ mole.
(a) Write an expression for Kc for the reaction.
(b) What is the value of Kc for the reverse reaction at the same temperature?
(c) What would be the effect on Kc if (i) more PCl5 is added (ii) pressure is
increased (iii) the temperature is increased?
9.(a)State the Le Chatelier’s principle
(b) Ammonia is prepared by Haber’s process is which the following reaction
occurs N2(g) + 3H2(g) ⇌2 NH3(g) ; rHƟ = 93.6 kJ/ mole.
Mention the effect of following on the equilibrium concentration of ammonia. (a)Increasing
pressure (b) Increasing temperature (c) Use of catalyst at an optimum temperature. (d)
Addition of inert gas at constant volume.(e) Addition of inert gas at constant pressure.

(a) At a certain temperature and total pressure of 105 Pa, iodine vapour contains 40% by
volume of I atoms I 2 (g) ⇌ 2I (g); Calculate Kp for the equilibrium.
(b) Find out the value of Kc for the equilibria reaction from the value of Kp :
2NOCl (g) ⇌ 2NO (g) + Cl2 (g); Kp = 1.8 × 10–2 at 500 K
10. What is the equilibrium concentration of each of the substances in the
equilibrium when the initial concentration of ICl was 0.78 M?

11. (i)Predict which of the following reaction will have appreciable concentration of reactants
and products:
a) Cl2 (g) ⇌ 2Cl (g); Kc = 5 ×10–39
b) Cl2 (g) + 2NO (g) ⇌2NOCl (g); Kc = 3.7 × 108
c) Cl2 (g) + 2NO2 (g) ⇌ 2NO2Cl (g); Kc = 1.8.
(ii) Kc for PCl5 (g) ⇌ PCl3 (g) + Cl2 (g) is 0.04 at 25°C. How much mole of PCl5 must be added to
3 L flask to obtain a chlorine concentration of 0.15 M?

The value of Kc for the reaction 2A⇌ B + C is 2 × 10–3. At a given time, the composition of
reaction mixture is [A] = [B] = [C] = 3 × 10–4 M. In which direction the reaction will proceed?

12.Read the passage given below and answer the following questions.
Le Chatelier’s principle is also known as the equilibrium law, used to predict the effect of
change on a system at chemical equilibrium. equilibrium are changed, the equilibrium will
shift in that direction where the effects that caused by these changes are nullified. This
principle is also used to manipulate reversible reaction in order to obtain suitable outcomes.
