About this audiobook
Jessica Morrison’s parents were murdered sixteen years ago. Now the killer is coming for her.
Looking back, Jessica had a picture-perfect childhood, but that was all ripped to shreds when her loving parents were killed. Eventually, the case went cold and Jessica realized the police barely investigated. She was too young to do anything about their inaction, so she concentrated on growing up as fast as possible under the care of her uncle.
But life had never been the same after that day and her uncle never opened up about the details of her parents death.
And he never will because now he’s dead.
Jessica recognizes that the killer used the same signature as her parent’s death. It has to be the same killer and once again the police don’t want to investigate. There’s something suspicious going on and Jessica begins to understand why her uncle never talked about her parent’s murders–to protect her.
Editor's Note
Cold Case Thriller...
In this cold case thriller, a woman whose parents were murdered 16 years earlier takes on the case herself. Shaw’s storytelling is in-depth and comprehensive, and she adds in a romance that adds to the heroine’s conflict.
Harper Shaw
Harper Shaw is an emerging author of thrillers living in central Florida. Her hobbies include watching crime thrillers on TV. She watched Gone Girl and was hooked on writing thrillers except work and family always got in the way. Then she realized that if she spent an hour writing after dinner every night she’d have a book in no time. Nowadays she waits until her family goes to sleep to begin to write her psychological thrillers with twisty endings. She doesn’t let her kids read what she writes so as not to scar them for life.

Readers find this title to be a mixed bag. While some reviewers found the book to be repetitive, boring, and filled with over-dramatized writing, others enjoyed the action-packed thriller with its twists and turns. The main character received mixed reviews, with some finding her annoying and whiny, while others enjoyed the love story aspect. Overall, the book had its flaws but still managed to keep some readers engaged. However, it is important to note that there were no overwhelmingly positive reviews, so the summary leans towards the negative side.

Terrible writing. Sentence structure and word choice for primary school. Illogical interactions/convos between people. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

So so storyline, but the narrator was horrendous… very breathy, dramatic, and annoying. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5

Boring. Too much repeated exposition. You could make drinking games based on how many times she says: Thank you and I’m sorry. Very tedious.
The main character is in constant anxiety & fear and often gives a long list of regrets. She is a damsel in distress & it’s a white knight who saves her. The ‘romance’ is boring & it was obvious he was to be her great love.
There’s no depth to the characters, surroundings, the story. Save your time for a better novel. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

It has a little bit of everything I love in a suspense book. Mystery, crime, romance, action. Everything was blended well. Would continue to read more from this author! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

I really enjoyed this story and the writing! The romance had real chemistry that built over time! I do wish the characters were stupid sometimes keeping secrets but alas - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5

We get it, her parents died when she was 12 and it traumatized her. The dialogue was lacking. And this “science” weapon was never explained. Shady labs? Twisted cops? Police officer is what the want to be called yet the cops said they were cops. Just stuff like that annoyed me. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

Very repetitive. Also, no character development. Have no clue of Andy’s past! I only continued to listen because I did want to hear how the story ended, but started skipping through the repetition. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

The story itself was ok but not very memorable. The villain reveal came a bit early and the loose ends took a while to wrap up. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5

Not sure what it was, that just didn't keep me interested enough to binge. It was almost boring at some points. I listened to it all, hoping it would get better. Some of it was predictable, especially the language. It was okay, but I liked one of her other books better than this one.1 person found this helpful

I got to chapter nine, life is too short to be bored by a "thriller". Just get on with it! The main character is unappealing and it's hard to feel anything for her plight. Too much boring detail about getting glasses of water, food etc. Please get yourself a better editor and make a potentially good book thrilling...1 person found this helpful

This was the best of the worst. I really did not like the main character and the story was just tedious. I can’t wait for my chosen titles to be available again! The narrator did a good job.1 person found this helpful

I couldn’t finish it properly. The mystery was boring. The reader and the words printed were too repetitive. And the reader kept trying to make it interesting with breathless, whispered dialogue. It was awful.1 person found this helpful

It got better. The 1st part of the book I wanted to smack Jessica upside the head. For goodness sake, she had a PHD in psychology. She always sounded frantic, was scared, and stressed out. Then a switch flip and she became brave on and off. The murder mystery part of the book was what kept me engaged.1 person found this helpful

I thought it was a goodbook. But there was no need for the character that came to her house and made dinner. But I did keep thinking he was going to pop up as a bad guy so maybe that was the point.1 person found this helpful

Overall good but the narrator got on my nerves and the main character did as well. If I had to hear her whine about the grief of losing her uncle one more time I was going to give up. Her other book Did I kill you had improved writing.1 person found this helpful

After the good ratings this book received, I was left flat. I felt it needed better character development and I found it rather surface-level than "in depth". A brief story about a day with her parents, very little about her uncle who raised her and a little scratching at the window, did not make it a thriller for me.1 person found this helpful
