DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.

.To all whom t may concern: A

Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLnNBURe,a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a Design for a Font of Type, of which the following is a specification.

My design for a fontof type is clearly illustrated in the accompanying typographical impression, the general character of which is that of the light-face fancy letter.

The general feature of the design is the peculiar scroll found in each letter of the upper-case, as Well as some of the letters of the lower-case and the lines above some of the letters of the lower-case. The upper line of the letterAterminates on the left-hand side with a scroll, the left vertical line joining this scroll. The lower line ot the upper loop of the letter B terminates in a scroll, as well as the upper l The lower line of the letter D terminates in a scroll, and the center lines of the letters E, F, and H terminate in a scroll. The upper portion of the letter G terminates in a scroll, and the lower portions of the. letters J', L, and T terminate in a scroll. One of the center lines of the letter M termi.-

nates in a scroll. ot' the right-hand loopv of the letter P, as well as the loop of the letter R, terminate in a scroll. The letter S terminates in a scroll both at top and bottom. The left-hand line of the letter V and both outside lines of the letter Tand one line of the letter X terminate in a scroll at the upper end. The line of the letter X also terminatesin a scroll at its lower end. The Lipper and lower lines of the letter Z terminate in ascroll. The letters a, e, i, 0,11, and y of the lower-case have lines above them, and the letters f, g, j, k, v, W, X, and y, as Well as the numerals, have scrolls.

I claim- The design for a font of type, substantially as herein described, and as shown in the accompanying typographical impression.
