DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,606, dated June 7, 1892. Application filed May 12, 1892. Serial No. 432,737- Term of patent 7 years.

To aZZ whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and original Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification.

My design for a font of printing-type is fully illustrated in the accompanying typographical impression. The character of the type is what is known as heavy-face fancy type. The right-hand lines of the letters A and D overlap the left-hand lines, and the lower right-hand loop of the letter B is opened, terminating in a point. The letter E is curved and its center line being enlarged at its outer end. The center line of the letter F is also enlarged at its outer end. The cross-line of the letter G terminates in a bulb, and the upright lines of the letters H are inclined toward each other. The letter J terminates in a bulb, and the upper righthand'line of the letter K terminates in a point. The cross-line of the letter L terminates in a scroll, while the left-hand line of theletter M is turned in and extends below the base-line of the letters of the font. The upper portion of the right-hand line of the letter M terminates in a bulb, and the loop of the letter P terminates in a short scroll. The tailof the letter Q commences in a bulb and terminates in a point. The right-hand lower line of the letter R terminates in a point. The letter T isin the form of an old English letter. The right-hand line of the letter U terminates in a bulb, and also the right-hand lines of V, U, X, and Y. The lower-case letters and the numerals are in keeping with the uppercase letters. I

I claim The design for a font of printing-type, as

herein described, and shown in the annexed typographical impression.
