Claims (18)
- 빛을 반사시키기 위한 반사 수단(reflection means)과,상기 반사 수단에 대향 배치되어 상기 반사 수단과 공간을 형성하는 투과 부재(transmission member)와,상기 공간으로 빛을 방출하도록 배치된 광원(light source)을 포함하여, 상기 광원으로부터 상기 공간으로 방출된 빛이 상기 반사 수단에 의해 반사되고 상기 투과 부재를 통해 투과되며,상기 투과 부재는 다수의 개구(aperture)를 갖는 반사층(reflection layer)을 구비하여, 상기 광원으로부터 상기 공간 내로 방출된 빛이 상기 반사 수단과 상기 반사층에 의해 반복적으로 반사되어 상기 투과 부재를 통해 상기 개구를 벗어나 외부로 누출되는 백라이트 디바이스(backlight device).
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 개구는 상기 투과 부재의 단위 영역 당 일정한 면적(area)을 갖도록 배치되며, 상기 면적은 상기 광원으로부터의 거리가 증가함에 따라 증가하는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 반사 수단은 상기 반사층의 대향측에 있는 상기 반사 수단의 일면상에 빛을 산란시키고 반사시키기 위한 산란층(scattering layer)을 구비하는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 산란층은 상기 산란층의 단위 영역 당 일정한 면적을 갖도록 배치된 다수의 개구를 구비하되, 상기 면적은 상기 광원으로부터의 거리가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,선택적으로 p-편광 성분을 투과시키고 s-편광 성분을 반사시키기 위해 투과 부재 상에 지지되어 있는 편광 비임 스플리터(polarization bean splitter)와,p-편광 성분과 s-편광 성분간을 변환시키기 위해 상기 투과 부재의 대향측에 있는 상기 반사 수단 상에 배치되어 있는 1/4 파장판(quarter wave plate)을 더 포함하여,상기 광원으로부터 상기 공간 내로 방출된 빛이 상기 편광 비임 스플리터 층과 상기 반사 수단 사이에서 반사되어 상기 방출광의 p-편광 성분이 투과 부재를 통해 외부로 선택적으로 누출되도록 하는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광 투과 부재는 상기 광원으로부터 상기 공간의 중심부 쪽으로의 거리가 증가함에 따라 상기 광원으로부터의 거리에 대한 선형 함수, 쌍곡선형(hyperbolic) 함수, 또는 이들 함수의 중간 함수 형태로 증가하는 구경비(aperture ratio)를 갖는 다수의 개구를 포함하는 반사층을 구비하는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 반사 수단의 대향측에 있는 상기 투과 부재의 일면상에 배치되는 적어도 한 시이트 이상의 프리즘 수단(at least one sheet of prism means)을 더 포함하여, 상기 투과 부재를 통해 투과된 빛이 상기 프림 수단을 통해 또 투과되어 상기 투과 부재에 대한 수선(normal) 쪽의 편향 방향으로 굴절되는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 수단이 다수의 시이트(plural sheets)로 제공되는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,상기 다수 시이트의 프리즘 수단 사이에 확산 수단(diffusion means)이 삽입되는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,단일 시이트의 프리즘 수단이 제공되는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 수단은 프리즘 릿지(prism ridge)가 상기 반사 수단으로부터 멀어지는 방향의 꼭지각을 갖도록 배치되는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 수단은 프리즘 릿지가 상기 반사 수단 쪽으로 향하는 꼭지각을 갖도록 배치되는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 수단의 프리즘 릿지는 꼭지각이 90도를 넘지 않는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 13 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 수단의 프리즘 릿지는 꼭지각이 50 내지 70 도의 범위에 있는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 반사층은 상기 선형 광원으로부터의 거리가 증가함에 따라 상기 선형광원으로부터의 거리에 대한 성형 함수, 쌍곡선형 함수, 또는 이들 함수의 중간 함수 형태로 증가하는 구경비 분포를 분포를 갖는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 반사층은 상기 반사 수단과 평행하게 이격 배치되어 있는 전위 투과판(front transmission plate)상에 지지된 메시 또는 개별 도트(mesh or discrete dot)패턴으로 형성된 막에 배치되어 있는 백라이트 디바이스.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 16 항중 어느 한 항에 따른 백라이트 디바이스,상기 백라이트 디바이스를 구동시키기 위한 백라이트 구동 수단,상기 백라이트 디바이스에 의해 조명되는 디스플레이 디바이스, 및상기 디스플레이 디바이스를 구동시키기 위한 구동 수단을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
- 제 17 항에 있어서,상기 디스플레이 디바이스는 액정 디스플레이 디바이스인 디스플레이 장치.
