Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare acicular or columnar lead titanate particles useful as a raw material of sintered porcelain, with easy operation, by reacting acicular titanium dioxide with powder obtained by the heat-treatment of a mixture of oxalic acid and lead acetate.
CONSTITUTION: 1mol of lead oxalate obtained by mixing oxalic acid with equimolar amount of lead acetate, is mixed with ≤80ml or water, and crushed. After heat- treatment, the mixture is further crushed to obtain a mixture of lead oxide and basic lead carbonate. Equipment amount of acicular titanium dioxide is added to the lead compounds, mixed, reacted by heating, and crushed to obtain acicular or columnar lead titanate particles having aspect ratio of about 8W10. The use of the lead titanate particles enables the production of sintered lead titanate porcelain wherein a specific axis of the tetragonal crystal particle is directed in a specific plane or to a specific direction.
