Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare acicular or columnar lead titanate particles useful as a raw material of sintered porcelain, with easy operation, by reacting a powdery mixture of oxalic acid and lead acetate with oriented acicular titanium dioxide particles obtained by the compression molding of acicular titanium dioxide.
CONSTITUTION: 1mol of lead oxalate obtained by mixing oxalic acid and lead acetate is added with ≤80ml of water, and crushed. The powdery mixture is mixed with agglomerate of titanium dioxide particles oriented in a specific plane or to a soecific direction and obtained by the uniaxial compression molding of acicular titanium dioxide particles followed by slicing to thin plates or slitting to fine threads. The mixture is reacted by heating, and crushed to obtain acicular or columnar lead titanate particles having aspect ratio of about 10W12. The use of the lead titanate particles enables the production of sintered lead titanate porcelain wherein the specific axis of the tetragonal crystal particle is oriented in a specific plane or to a specific direction.
