Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a fine lead oxalate suitable for a raw material for a piezoelectric material simply, by reacting oxalic acid with lead acetate in the presence or absence of a specific amount of water.
CONSTITUTION: Oxalic acid [(COOH)2.2H2O] is reacted with lead acetate [Pb(CH2COO)2.3H2O] in the presence or absence of water in an amount of not more than 80ml/mol the lead oxalate to give a very fine lead oxalate having an average particle size ≤0.3μm. The powder used as a raw material for a piezoelectric material accelerates the solid phase reaction, permits the reduction in sintering temperature and improvement in uniformity and density, and provides a great effect thereof.
