Description
Claims (8)
- 装置であって、該装置は、
(a)第1および第2の平行面を含む複数の面を有する導光素子であって、該導光素子は前記第1および第2の平行面における内部反射によって画像の光線を導くために構成され、前記複数の面のうちの1つは連結面を設ける、導光素子と、
(b)前記連結面に取り付けるための接合面を有する連結プリズムであって、前記連結プリズム内で伝播する画像の光線が前記接合面と前記連結面を通過し、それによって導光素子内に結合するように構成される、連結プリズムと、
(c)前記導光素子の前記複数の面の少なくとも1つの面の一部に適用される不透明且つ光反射特性を有するコーティングであって、前記導光素子の前記連結面に隣接する、あるいは重なり合う端部を画定する、不透明且つ光反射特性を有するコーティング、および
(d)光学透過界面を形成するために前記連結面と前記接合面の間に配置される、ある量の透明な接着剤であって、前記端部まで延びる、接着剤と、
前記連結面が前記第1および第2の平行面のうちのいずれか1つの面上に設けられる
ことを特徴とする装置。 - 前記コーティングが前記連結面と前記接合面との間に広がる、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記連結面が前記第1および第2の平行面に対して傾いており、
前記連結面と前記第1の平行面が丸い端部で接し、および前記端部が前記丸い端部とは重なり合わない、請求項1に記載の装置。 - 前記接着剤が前記丸い端部と前記接合面との間に形成された凹部を充填する、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記端部が、前記連結プリズムから前記導光素子へと通過する光線のための光学遮断端部を画定する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 光学アセンブリの製造方法であって、該方法は、
(a)第1および第2の平行面を含む複数の面を有する導光素子を設ける工程であって、前記導光素子は、前記第1および第2の平行面における内部反射によって導光するために構成される工程、
(b)前記導光素子の前記複数の面の少なくとも1つの面の少なくとも一部にコーティングを適用する工程、
(c)前記導光素子の連結面と前記コーティングの端部を同時に形成するために、前記コーティングに交差する平面に沿って前記導光素子を丸くする(rounding)工程、および
(d)前記連結面を、透明な光学素子の接合面に接着する工程であって、該透明な光学素子は、透明な光学素子内で伝播する光が接合面と連結面を通過し、それによって導光素子内に伝播するように構成される工程、を含み、
ここで、前記接着する工程は、ある量の透明な接着剤を前記連結面と前記接合面との間に適用することによって行われ、前記接着剤の適用によって、前記連結面と前記接合面が一緒にプレスされる時、前記ある量の透明な接着剤が前記コーティングの前記端部に達することを特徴とする方法。 - その結果、前記端部が光学遮断端部を画定するように、前記コーティングは不透明なコーティングであり、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記透明な接着剤内に形成された空隙の端部によって画定される遮断端部を残すために、前記コーティングを選択的に除去する工程をさらに含む、請求項7に記載の方法。
