Description
また、本願の発明は、液晶表示装置において、前記信号線側樹脂ブラックマトリクス及び前記走査線側樹脂ブラックマトリクスは前記信号線及び走査線の上方で前記画素電極間の下方に設けられた層間膜に埋め込み配置されている。
なお、この層間膜39は成膜された段階で樹脂ブラックマトリクス45、46をその内部に埋め込むように成膜されている。また、この層間膜39の補助容量電極36上に位置する部分には後述する画素電極40とドレイン電極Dとを電気的に接続するためのコンタクトホール41が設けられているが、この穴の位置は補助容量電極36上に限らない。ただし、コンタクトホール41が形成された部分は液晶表示装置10としてカラーフィルタ基板12と貼り合わせた際にその基板間距離が他の部分と異なるため、表示品質のバラつきが生じる恐れがあるので、好ましくは遮光性材料である補助容量電極36上に設けるものとする。そして、走査線32及び信号線33によって囲まれた1画素領域ごとに例えばITOからなる画素電極40を形成する。このとき画素電極40の外周縁は、近接する走査線32あるいは信号線33と平面視で重ならない位置に設けられるとともに、この外周縁は樹脂ブラックマトリクス45、46上に位置するように形成されている。以上の工程によりアレイ基板11が製造される。

Claims (5)
- マトリクス状に配置された信号線及び走査線と、前記信号線及び走査線の交差部近傍に設けられた薄膜トランジスタと、前記信号線及び走査線により区画される複数の画素領域の上方にそれぞれ設けられる画素電極と、を備える第1基板と、カラーフィルタ及び共通電極が形成された第2基板と、前記両基板間に配置された液晶層とを有する液晶表示装置において、
前記画素電極は前記信号線及び走査線と平面視で重ならない位置に設けられており、前記信号線を挟んで隣接する前記画素電極間の下方には、信号線側樹脂ブラックマトリクスが、前記信号線を覆い、かつ、前記画素電極と平面視で重なるように配置され、前記走査線を挟んで隣接する前記画素電極間の下方には、走査線側樹脂ブラックマトリクスが、前記走査線を覆い、かつ、前記画素電極と平面視で重なるように配置されている
液晶表示装置。 - 前記信号線及び走査線の幅は3〜5μmであり、前記信号線側樹脂ブラックマトリクス及び前記走査線側樹脂ブラックマトリクスの幅は6〜10μmである
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記信号線側樹脂ブラックマトリクス及び前記走査線側樹脂ブラックマトリクスは前記信号線及び走査線の上方で前記画素電極間の下方に設けられた層間膜に埋め込み配置されている
請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 樹脂ブラックマトリクスが、前記薄膜トランジスタの上方にも設けられている
請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記画素電極の下方には層間膜が設けられており、前記画素電極と前記層間膜との間の少なくとも一部には反射膜が設けられている
請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
