Abstract
862,292. Lanterns for street lighting ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 3. 1958 [Nov. 7, 1957], No. 34797/57. Class 75 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] A street lighting lantern 2 incorporating one or more electric discharge or other electric lamps is supported on a tubular bracket 1 through which the electric supply cables 4 pass, connection between these and the conductors 7 leading to the lamps and to any associated apparatus being made by a plug and socket device 5, 6 wholly or partly housed within the bracket 1. The part 5 connected to the supply cables may be enclosed in an insulating sleeve 11 held in place by a clamp 12 around the cables at the rear and passing round a flange 8 on the part 5, an internal flange 13 on the part 2 compressing the sleeve to complete the seal when the lantern is in place. The part 6 may have a key 15 fitting into a key-way in a recess in the part 5 to ensure correct insertion of the plug.
