Abstract
487,483. Two-part couplings. WADE, W. E. Dec. 10. 1937, No. 34204. [Class 38 (i)] A lamp-holder 2 for mounting in a reflector or other support 18 is formed with a plug 7 for insertion in a supply socket of lamp-holder type. The plug 7 is secured to the lampholder 2 by screw rings 14, 15 and the insulating block 3 that carries the plungers 5 of the lamp-holder carries also plungers 10 that engage the contacts 8 of the plug 7. The casings 12 of the plungers 10 are formed with screws 13 that enter the terminal blocks 4 of the lamp-holder contacts. The screws 13 may be hollow so that the springs 6, 11 may be continuous. The plungers 10 may then be dispensed with, the springs forming the connection to the contacts 8. The blocks 4 and casings 12 may be mounted on separate insulators and helical spring connections located between them. In this case an intermediate section of outer casing may be interposed between the socket 2 and the ring 15, and the support 18 may then be gripped by a screw ring at either end of the intermediate section, providing adjustment of the position of the lamp.
