Abstract
779,789. Vehicle lamps. NEALE & SONS, Ltd., J., and NEALE, M. R. Dec. 1, 1955 [Nov. 12, 1954], No. 32766/54. Class 75(4) A rear lamp for a road vehicle comprises a casing 1 provided at its outer end with a red lens 2 and with a circumferential window 3 in its wall to illuminate a number plate, the inner end of the casing being screw-threaded as at 4 for detachably engaging an internally threaded lamp holder cap 6 provided with a lamp bracket 7 for securing the rear lamp to a vehicle, the lamp holder 9 being mounted on a clamping ring 11 as by plunging a collar 11a provided around the aperture in the ring on to the holder 9 and the'ring 11 being sandwiched between the end of the casing 1 and the cap and having integral tongues 16 to serve as elastic abutments between the casing and the cap whereby the window 3 may be correctly located and the lamp holder retained tightly in' position. The lamp holder is preferably inserted in a tubular socket 13 which is received into the bore 8 of the cap 6 and positioned by the flared end 14 abutting against the cap 6; this socket serves to house the lamp conductors 15.
