Abstract
609,081. Two-part couplings. CINEMATELEVISION, Ltd., and BENTLEY, L. C. March 5, 1946, No. 6853. [Class 38 (i)] A coupling for high voltage cables comprises a socket member formed by a cable-clamp 2 and lock-nut 1 and a metal casing 5 secured to the clamp by a threaded ring 4. The plug comprises a clamp 9 secured on a concentric cable 10 by a lock-nut 8, a ring 11 retaining the plug and socket together. An insulating sleeve 13 is mounted within the casing 5. The cable 3 has a conductive cap 6 which is provided with a spring 7 bearing on a cap 12 on the other cable 10, the contact between the cables being positioned mid-way of the insulator 13. The outer conductor 14 of the cable 10 is also held in the clamp 9. In modifications, bayonet fastenings may replace the rings 4, 11, and the helical spring 7 may be omitted, the conductors being long enough to contact each other on tightening the rings. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 480,510.
