[Also in Groups XI and XXXV] A socket for receiving the pins on the ends of a tubular lamp comprises a block 24 having seatings for the lamp accessories, such as resistances, condensers and a starter switch, and resiliently held in the ring shaped socket-carrying member 32 of a multiple plug and socket connector. Metal members 51, Fig. 7, make connections between the accessories and from the accessories to three sliding contacts 50 on the periphery of the block which connect with the sockets 33 of the socket member. The plug member 46 of the multiple connector has sockets 47 for receiving the conductors and pins 47a which engage with the sockets 33 on the socket member. On removing the plug member the pins are completely withdrawn from their sockets before a sleeve 49 on the plug member is withdrawn from a tubular part of the lamp casing in which it is a sliding fit. The socket member houses fuses f1, f2. The multiple plug and socket connector shown in Fig. 15 comprises an insulated ring 67 carrying sockets 68 and terminals 69 and a plug carrying pins 73 and terminals 72. The multiple insulated sleeve connector 23 shown in Fig. 5 comprises a plurality of radially disposed sleeves 29 in which the conductors are held by friction or by set screws. The connector is also provided with sockets for receiving the pins 22 of the tubular lamp. The lampholder shown in Fig. 15 comprises an insulated disc 75 having an axial boss 75a carrying lamp sockets 76 and an integral tubular member 75b extending rearwardly from the boss through a central aperture in a transformer.
