Abstract
862,014. Threshing machines. MASSEY FERGUSON (UNITED KINGDOM) Ltd. July 29, 1957 [Aug. 11, 1956], No. 24645/56. Class 6(3). A concave 12 for a harvester is adjustable about a pivot 20 by the rotation of eccentrics 23 engaged within ring-like members in the front portions 22 of the side bars 18 of the concave and rigidly attached to a tube 24 carried by a shaft 25 on the harvester. Release of a nut 35 allows the shaft 25 to be turned and thereby the gap between the concave and the harvester cylinder 10 to be varied. The pivot 20 is constituted by the ends of a shaft 46 passing through a tube joining the rear portions of the side bars 18, Fig. 3 (not shown), and held in the harvester frame, to which frame guide plates 48, each having a slot 50, are rigidly attached. Similar slots, somewhat larger, are formed in the frame. Further slots 57 are formed in plates 56 on either end of a shaft 55 in order that, on release of a nut 59 securing the shaft 46, the shaft 55 may be manually rotated in a clockwise direction and thereby allow the concave 12 to drop within the limits of the slots 50, 57. In this way a blockage in the concave may be cleared.
