783,253. Combustion apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP DE BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM MAATSCHAPPIJ. April 23, 1956 [April 29, 1955], No. 12379/56. Class 51 (1). In the apparatus shown in which flame issues from a ceramic walled chamber 1 into a heating chamber, combustion air is heated by passing it through a partitioned annular channel 5 surrounding the chamber 1. The partition 9 forms one wall of a chamber 6 in which the hot air is whirled by impingement on vanes 7 prior to mixing with fuel issuing from a burner 2. The air supply conduit 4 may be tangentially connected to the channel 5. Liquid, gaseous or powdered fuel may be burnt. Specification 703,721 is referred to.
