Abstract
848,203. Vaporizers for liquid fuel burners. WYKES, F. Nov. 23, 1956 [June 23, 1956], No. 19509/56. Class 75(1). A vaporizer for a liquid fuel burner comprises a chamber having a fuel inlet, an electrical resistance for heating the fuel and a discharge nozzle for producing a high velocity jet for entraining the combustion air, the chamber having internal surfaces formed and arranged so as to be heated by the heater and to constrain fuel to follow a circuitous path during its travel through the chamber whereby it is gasified under pressure. In the form shown, fuel enters from a supply pipe 8 through a filter 36 which also serves to prevent pressure in the pre-heater forcing the oil back, and passes into the casing 37 in which is axially mounted a chamber 39 sealed from the casing and bearing partitions 40 which have segmental portions cut out alternately at diametrically opposite positions to create a sinuous path for the fuel. An electrical resistance 45 for heating the fuel is mounted in the chamber 39. From the end of the casing the fuel passes through a pipe 48 into a Venturi tube 47, air being drawn in by orifices 49 in the tube.
