Abstract
609,135. Liquid and gaseous fuel burners. LELGEMANN, W. March 6, 1946, No. 7002. [Classes 75(i) and 75(iii)] [Also in Group XII] In an apparatus for the diffusion and combustion of atomized, vaporized or gaseous fuel an electrically-driven fan 18 supplies air through a tangential inlet to a casing 25 fitted with a number of nozzles 29a, 29b, inclined at different angles to the front wall 25c of the casing so as to create spiral air currents in the combustion chamber 49 meeting at different longitudinal and transverse locations the flame from a nozzle- 33 arranged in a cone 26 on the front wall 25c and carried by a fuel pipe 32. The fuel pipe 32 is adjustably mounted in a sleeve 37a which is itself adjustable by a rotatable knob 44 in the back wall 25b of the casing and carries a valve 37 regulating the passage of air to the cone 26. The valve 37 is guided by a disc 34 adjustably mounted on the pipe 32 and carrying insulators supporting ignition electrodes 35a, 36a. The air discharged from the nozzles 29a, 29b can be regulated by turning an apertured disc 20. The nozzles may be adjusted to various angles in flanges 28 on the wall 25c and then secured by set-screws. In a modification additional nozzles discharge air parallel to the axis of the combustion chamber.
