Abstract
739,460. X-ray apparatus. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. March 2, 1954 [March 4, 1953], No. 6044/54. Class 98 (1). In X-ray apparatus having a tube stand including a vertical column 10 and a horizontal arm 22 an X-ray tube support assembly comprising a bracket 25 on arm 22, an arcuate member 26 supporting X-ray tube holder 27 and a clamping bar 34 having an opening 36 through which the arcuate member 26 passes, has the clamping bar 34 normally releasably locked to the arcuate member 26 to hold the tube 28 at the required angle. The locking is effected by springs 60 and 38 pulling clamping bar 34 against the abutment 52 thus twisting it into engagement with number 26. When the lever 62 is turned in a clockwise direction to disengage the lock between the bar 34 and the member 26, one side of notch 53 and the spring 38 exert a counterclockwise twisting action on the bar 34 and the member 26 is released so that it can move freely between rollers 30. In order to effect stability it is necessary to provide a second member 26 and a second set of rollers 30 laterally displaced from those shown. A position indicating scale and pointer 32 may be provided.
