Abstract
734,455. Spray-producers. SIGMUND PUMPS, Ltd. May 17, 1954 [May 20, 1953], No. 14230/53. Class 69 (3). A sprayer of the type comprising a fixed support 1, a nozzle barrel 3 mounted thereon, and a rotary diffusing element 20 driven by reaction of the water jet from the nozzle, is characterized in that the nozzle barrel comprises a main part 21 supporting the bearings for the element 20, and a secondary part 22 including the nozzle outlet, and the part 22 is rotatable relative to the main part about an axis displaced from but parallel to the nozzle outlet axis. The element 20 comprises a vaned wheel mounted on a shaft 8, and its rotation drives, through gearing, the barrel 3 about a shaft 5. The part 22 is engaged within an eccentric bearing 23 so that by turning it relative to the part 21 the amount of water striking the vaned wheel is adjusted to vary the wheel and barrel speed. A second outlet 24 of smaller size is provided on the part 22 and also directs adjustable amounts of water on to the wheel 20, so providing a more critical adjustment of the said speeds.
