Abstract

634,275. Spray-producers. WANKE, K. G. Dec. 30, 1947, No. 34745. Convention date, Oct. 5, 1946. [Class 69 (iii)] A rotating jet nozzle 9 driven through gearing 11, 12 by a rotary axial flow turbine 8, is provided with further gear driven means to move the turbine wheel 8 in and out of the path of the jet to vary the speed of rotation of the jet in regular manner. The gearing is so arranged that the speed of rotation falls at four regularly spaced points in each revolution of the jet, and at the same time the range of the jet is extended by virtue of the reduced interference with the jet by the turbine wheel, so as to produce a rectangular area of spray. The turbine wheel 8 is carried on a shaft 7 which is in turn carried in a sliding block 19; the sliding block 19 is actuated by a crank-pin 17 on a gear 16 driven from a lay-shaft 10 which is in turn driven from the turbine shaft 7 by reduction gearing 14.
