Abstract
583,100. Seed distributers. WEBSTER, G. J., and HUMPHREYS, E. S. June 12, 1944, No 11188. [Class 6 (i)] Seed passes from a hopper 1 to a delivery tube 18 through a rotary plate 15 having holes 20 any number of which may be put out of action by a segmental plate 8 keyed to a fixed shaft 7 and retained in adjusted position by a set-screw 10. The plate 15 is keyed within an annular member 11 fitting within the hopper mouth and peripherally toothed for engagement with a gear driven through friction gearing from the land wheels. Axial adjustment of a friction wheel permits the gear ratio and thereby the seed-spacing to be modified. A supporting plate 17 underlies the plate 15 and is held by a collar 19 on the shaft 7. The leading edge of the plate 8 is fitted with a wiper in the form of a resilient flap or rotating brush to prevent seed from jamming beneath the plate.
