Abstract

935,486. Rotary sprayers. S.A.I.M.C.A. SOC. AZ. INDUSTRIE MECCANICHE DELLA COMPANIA. Dec. 23, 1960 [Oct. 5, 1960], No. 44322/60. Class 69 (3). A wheel 1 with helical blades 2 dips into liquid 15 and is driven by the shaft 4 of an electric motor 5 whereby liquid is projected in an annular zone of diverging form. The divergence is represented in Fig. 2 by the angle IAR, and there is thus left a liquid free zone of frusto-conical form at the centre of the annular zone. In order to fill this latter zone a pair of diametrically-opposed uprights 12 extend from a chamber 10 and above the liquid level, and liquid jets are forced from holes 13 to strike the blades 2 and be scattered thereby. Liquid is drawn into the chamber 10 through a central opening 11 by a centrifugal wheel 9 mounted on the motor shaft. The wheel 1 may be used on its own without the jets, or the jets and wheel may be used without the wheel dipping into a liquid source.
