Abstract

730,849. Bearings. HISPANO SUIZA (SUISSE) SOC. ANON. Oct. 26, 1953 [Oct. 28, 1952], No. 29537/53. Class 12 (1). In a centring system for gear-driven spindles of spinning or twisting frames of the type comprising an oscillatory spindle 7 driven by a worm gear 1, 2 and resting at its lower end inside a step bearing 8 adapted to be submitted to slight transversal movements which are controlled by a centring member 14 having a substantially conical surface A engaging a shoulder 15 rigid with the casing 4, the centring member 14 is urged against the shoulder 15 solely under the action of gravity. The footstep bearing 8 is carried by a member 9 rigid with the casing 4. A clearance j<SP>1</SP> is provided between the bearing 8 and member 14, and a further clearance j<SP>2</SP> exists between the member 14 and a housing wall 13. A sleeve 16 forming a damping element is disposed in the clearance j<SP>2</SP>. Holes 17 in the member 14 constitute 'further damping means. In a modification the conical surface A of the member 14, Fig. 2, is located above the footstep bearing 8, and the footstep bearing 8 and centring member 14 are integral.
