Abstract

1392158 Damped spindle bearings SPINDEL - MOTOREN - UND MACHINENFABRIK AG 2 July 1973 [10 July 1972] 31531/73 Heading DID A spindle mounting comprises a shaft 2 supported by two bearings 3 and 4 in a housing 1; between the bearings a dampening mechanism is provided which acts on the shaft in its region of maximum oscillation under an unbalanced load. This dampening mechanism comprises a bearing sleeve 13 within a spiral spring 14. The spring 14 is retained in the housing 1 by a ring 16 which has a funnel portion to aid insertion of the shaft 2. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the dampening mechanism is provided lower down the shaft on a reduced diameter portion. The housing 1 may be filled with oil.
