Abstract
635,223. Thermal switches. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. Sept. 18, 1946, No. 28022. Convention. date. Sept. 19, 1945. [Class 38 (v)] A fire-alarm switch enclosed in a glass bulb 1, comprises metal sheets 2 adjacent the bulb surface and to which are soldered at 4, by a low melting-point alloy, bimetallic strips 3 which may be tensioned to bend away from the sheets 2. Conducting strips 5 are also connected to the sheets, the strips 3 and 5 being asymmetrically mounted on an insulating base 7 and connected to their external circuits through poleshoes 8. When the bulb heats up, the alloy melts, so releasing the strips 3 which break the alarm circuits. Alternatively, the inner surface of the bulb may be metallized to form the sheets 2.
