783,514. Thermal switches. LEWIS, G. E. Jan. 20, 1955 [Jan. 20, 1954], No. 1676/54. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVIII] A thermal switch or fire detection element 7 comprises an insulating layer of stearic and paraffin wax 9 separating copper strips 8 forming contacts, the strips 8 being surrounded by a flexible insulating sleeve 10. Lugs 11 form terminals for leads, and the strips 8 are urged together and into contact when the wax melts by jaws 13 of a bifurcated spring clip 14. The switch may be housed in an insulating and perforated box adapted for wall mounting (Figs. 5, 6, not shown).
