[Class 120(ii)] An apron-type drafting mechanism for spinning frames of the kind disclosed in Specification 524,666 is adjustable so as to deal with fibres of different staple lengths. The upper reach of the apron 10 is supported on a guide bar 12 and on driven middle and back lower rolls 3, 4, and the rear upper roll 18 can be positioned either over roll 3 (as shown) or over roll 4. Rollers 3, 4 are supported in a block 6 fixed to a slide 7 and adjustable towards or away from driven front bottom roller 2. Cap bars 15 pivot at 14 and comprise three sections A, B, C, section B being adjustable on a rod D which is adjustably fixed in section C by screw 32. Various arrangements of top rollers are shown, suitable for dealing with different staple lengths of fibre. Slots in the various sections of the cap bars allow roller 18 to be positioned over roller 3 or roller 4 in all positions of adjustment of block 6 and cap bars 15, one, two or three small slip rolls being used as required. The slip rolls are preferably graduated in weight with the heaviest at the front and the ligthest at the rear. A saddle 26 is connected by a stirrup to the usual weighted lever, the head 24 of the stirrup having a tapered end screw 25 bearing in one of two alternative sockets in the saddle, according to the weight distribution required. A non-adjustable connection between stirrup and saddle is also shown. The saddle is provided with a socket to engage the neck of roll 17 and is long enough to bear on the neck of roller 18 in any of its operative positions. A clearer roller 30 is mounted in brackets on the cap bars, and an apron clearer 31 may be supported on the screw posts 32.
